Starting in 2009/10 the previous second slide evening has been dropped in favour of a digital competition evening. The competition categories are as follows:

Class 13 The Rundle Trophy Three digital images which must be different in subject and/or technique
Class 24 D W Haigh Trophy - General Any image which falls outside Record or Natural History
Class 25 I G Strang Trophy - Applied Any image which is pure Record or Natural History
Class 26 J. Duncan Trophy -
A/V
With a maximum of 5 minutes length

The date for the competitions is shown in the programme.

Members will be able to submit 3 images each in the Applied and General categories, but must number them in order of preference so the third choice can be dropped if numbers are too high (see details below).

All photographs must be the original work and the copyright of the photographer, who must be a current member of Ilkley Camera Club. No photograph to be submitted in more than one competition in accordance with the requirements for the D J Slingsby Trophy.

Any entries assigned to the wrong class or breach these rules may be removed by the Digital Secretary whose decision is final.

COMPUTER MANIPULATED IMAGES

These are permitted in all categories (see below with reference to Applied Categories) providing that the work be largely based on PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGES which must have been taken by the photographer.  All manipulation of the image shall be carried out by the photographer, or under his or her immediate control.   This can include cropping, masking, filtration etc., removing unwanted details and blemishes and the addition, of the details of other photographic images taken by the photographer.   They should not include computer clip-art images or graphics from other sources.

Although digital imaging is allowed in the Applied categories, manipulation should be limited to contrast and colour corrections, cropping/re-sizing and cleaning up the image where necessary.   This should not alter the main content of the original photograph particularly in Natural History.

HOW TO PRESENT DIGITAL IMAGES FOR COMPETITION

Images will be projected with a black background. Image size and resolution are completely irrelevant.

Each image should be in a separate file and the filename should be:
