SHAROW PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION

You may recall that Sharow invited us to submit a Club entry and the ‘SWIG’ group volunteered to do this.  You will be pleased to hear that we came second in the Club Competition when the results were announced yesterday. I would like to thank Roderick Hyde and the other SWIG members for their efforts on this.

Congratulations are also due to Richard Spurdens. His image (right) came second in the individual Portrait Category.

Don’t forget that this is now being held at the North Light Gallery, Brooke’s Mill, Armitage Bridge, Huddersfield in association with the RPS Yorkshire Digital Imaging Group. 

This is the first time that this national exhibition has been brought to the North of England. Over 100 prints from some of the country’s top photographers are on display, encompassing a wide variety of styles from traditional to abstract digital photography. Like our Exhibition, it shows the full range of the Group Members work, from beginners to award winners. I think that many of our Exhibition prints are comparable to the prints on display but please go along and see for yourself.

The YPU have invited the Club to represent them at the 2010 PAGB Club Print Championships to be held at Connahs Quay on Saturday, 23rd October.  We have accepted their invitation.

We are currently awaiting a full set of the rules and details on how the event is organised so that we can best present our work. We did represent the YPU at this event some years ago. From the knowledge gained then and from information on the web it appears to be very similar to PAGB Digital competition last July when we also represented the YPU.

It is clear that we need the best possible selection of prints for the competition.  For the selection process we will start with the prints displayed at the recent exhibition but would welcome any new prints you have for selection. May I suggest that when you are considering any Club competition prints over the summer you also bear in mind this competition when producing prints.
