Annual Competitions - Slides
This page provides you with the basic information you need to know to enter the Annual Slide Competitions which are:
| Class 19 | J. Hardy Trophy | Photo-Panel |
| Class 22 | A C M Duncan Trophy | General |
| Class 23 | Hilda Holmes Trophy | Applied |
The entry date for the competitions is shown in the programme.
The maximum number of slides in each competition is limited to three, whilst in the photo-panel Class (19) one entry per member is permitted. Trade processing of slides is permitted. The submitted slides should be clean and in good condition suitable for projection.
All photographs must be the original work and the copyright of the photographer, who must be a current member of Ilkley Camera Club. No photograph to be submitted in more than one competition in accordance with the requirements for the D J Slingsby Trophy.
Any entries assigned to the wrong class or breach these rules may be removed by the Slide Secretary whose decision is final.
THE MOUNTING OF TRANSPARENCIES FOR COMPETITION

Hand Holding
- Hold the slide with the image the right way round, emulsion (dull) side to the back
- Place spot in bottom left hand corner (please use a coloured pen on the white side)
- Put the title along the base of the picture, the class number and Ilkley CC on the sides opposite each other.

For Projection
Place slide in the magazine with spot showing in the top right hand corner.
Please put your name on the reverse of the mount, preferably.

Please mount slides in glass (preferably in Anti-Newton) and make sure the slide and glass are really dry and clean when mounting. The Club will not accept any responsibility for any damage that may occur if a slide is not glass mounted.
If slides are not glass mounted they must be in mounts of at least 2mm thick (the same thickness as a 10p coin).
Mounts often used by processors (e.g. Fuji, Agfa and Kodak) are thin and can cause projectors to jam. This is a serious problem for Judges and gives risk of damages to slides. Photographs in such mounts will not be submitted to judges.
Blick self adhesive labels are good, as are GEPE Mounts.
COMPUTER MANIPULATED IMAGES
These are permitted in all categories (see below with reference to Applied Categories) providing that the work be largely based on PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGES which must have been taken by the photographer. All manipulation of the image shall be carried out by the photographer, or under his or her immediate control. This can include cropping, masking, filtration etc., removing unwanted details and blemishes and the addition, in the General Categories, of the details of other photographic images taken by the photographer. They should not include computer clip-art images or graphics from other sources.
Although digital imaging is allowed in the Applied categories, manipulation should be limited to contrast and colour corrections, cropping/re-sizing and cleaning up the image where necessary. This should not alter the main content of the original photograph particularly in nature.
CHECK LIST PRIOR TO ENTERING CLUB SLIDE COMPETITIONS

- Mounts must not be less than 2mm thick – processors mounts are not acceptable (they jam the projector)
