ILKLEY CAMERA CLUB NATURAL HISTORY GROUP

FIELD TRIP TO DENSO MARSTON NATURE RESERVE, BAILDON - 12 JUNE.

Common Blue Butterfly

For it's first field trip, the group decided to stay close to home with a visit to this small reserve on the banks of the River Aire at Baildon. Five members met early on a bright summer morning, and soon found obliging damselflies, insects and flowers to photograph.

We met the Reserve Warden who explained that the harsh winter had delayed many types of flora and fauna this year. He was particulary excited finding a Small Blue butterfly, the first seen on the reserve this year, and it was photographed (right) by Chris Foxton.

The visit lasted for a couple of hours or so, and then people went home for breakfast and to review their work. Judging by the work I saw, I think that everyone was pleased with their efforts.

The next field trip will be on Saturday, 26th June, meeting at 7am. in the car park adjacent to Blubberhouses Church. We intend to explore the Washburn Valley around Blubberhouses.

E-mail if you are interested in attending and would like more information.
