Profile: Dr Barry Senior Hon FRPS President of the Royal Photographic Society 2007 - 2009


Dr Barry SeniorBarry’s photography began at school where he learnt darkroom and camera skills. While studying at university in London he worked as a photojournalist for a college newspaper and later as a wedding photographer (part time).  Barry is a scientist by profession although now retired.  In his career he was Quality Assurance Director with an International Company.  In his professional life amongst other responsibilities he was responsible for macro photography in a scientific context in a Quality Control and regulatory environment.

Personal early work as an enthusiast was monochrome landscapes and later an interest developed in studio still life photography.   He started working digitally in 1996 moving to digital capture in 2004.

Barry joined The Royal Photographic Society in the early 1980’s and was a Regional Organiser for 12 years when he represented  a UK region of 1000 members, organising events and meetings.  In addition he was Chairman of the Digital Imaging Group for six years and served as a trustee on the governing Council from 1999 until September 2007.
